Tell me more about the RV reservation - and how come there are size restrictions?
We have a limited amount of space. In '98, we had a full range of vehicles including everything from a 20ft pop-up to a full tour bus and trailer well over 100 ft long. To be fair to all, our RV site is defined as 15ft by 50ft. Vehicles over 50ft can either pay for two spaces or pay an additional charge of $10/foot. If your tow-behind is under 50ft, but your pickup puts you over the line, you can drop the rig and park the truck in our on-site vehicle storage area (fee $30/week.)
But I want to sleep in my truck!
Well, then it's a RV, isn't it?
It seems like a pretty inflexible policy that discriminates against rich guys with big flashy RVs and fancy custom bikes that they trailer all over the world.
Bingo.
No, really.
Riders Ranch is designed as a ride-in motorcycle, temporary tent city. Many groups travel with support vehicles (vans, RVs, pickups) and that's great. But the RV trade cannot be allowed to overshadow our primary purpose of giving Riders the best value and service we can. To do that, we need space for vendors, food service and access for serivice and emergency vehicles. Our big show in '98 drew 10,000 visitors and we needed parking for them. What we have in store for the 100th promises to be an even bigger draw. In short, we value every camper - but this isn't called "RV Ranch", it's Riders Ranch, and it aint yer Momma's KOA!
How do I know if I need to buy an RV pass?
There are three types of RV parking. Water/electric, electric and no
service. Any vehicle over 3 wheels and under 50 ft is an RV. Over 50ft is an additional
fee RV. A cycle, trike, sidecar, cycle-towed trailer, tent, tarp or leanto
is not an RV. A support vehicle that stays on-site used for any purpose
such as sleeping or storage (as a truck, car, trailer, pop-up,or boat) is an
RV.
